Depression is a mental condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity. It's the leading cause of disability in the United States and it has an effect on what we do and how we feel. If you or someone you love is feeling sad or hopeless most of the day, every day for at least two weeks, they may be suffering from depression. Depression can feel like a dark and lonely place with no way out. It's hard to go on when you don't see your situation improving. You may even start thinking about suicide.
